The new Detroit dance studio ‘detroitdance’ is opening in Detroit
Detroit dance company Detroit Dance Studio has opened its first studio in the Detroit area, a location it has been trying to secure for months, according to the Detroit Free Press.
The studio, located in the city’s northwest neighborhood of Auburn, will be a three-story studio on the ground floor of a garage on the corner of Monroe and Lake St. in Auburn.
The garage, which is on the northwest corner of the intersection of Monroe Street and Lake Street, is also the home of the Detroit Dance Company, which specializes in house and techno music.
The Detroit Dance Co. was founded in 2007, and its lineup includes artists like DJ Jazzy Jeff, Skrillex, DJ Snake and Zedd.
Auburn City Mayor Jim Garlow said he’s optimistic the studio will open in time for the new year.
Detroit’s dance scene has seen a revival in recent years with new studios popping up all over the city, and I’m very excited about what’s happening here,” Garlows statement read.”
It’s great to see the talent coming together, the industry coming together,” he added.”
We’re very happy to be able to open a new studio in our city, the Detroit dance community is truly vibrant, and this will bring a great element of entertainment to the community.
“Garlows’ announcement came days after Detroit’s Dance Music Week festival was canceled after a security guard was killed at the site, according an update from the festival’s organizers.
A group of protesters were arrested and charged with rioting and assault following the shooting.
